OK! Magazine at the Journey Through the 80′s Tour
By Valerie Nome
After appearing on Good Morning Americatoday, Debbie Gibson and Tiffany launch their Journey Through The ‘80s tour tonight in Westbury, N.Y. (I can’t wait – and I can’t wait to see if mega-Tiffany fanBethenny Frankel will be on hand, too.)
When the former teen queens performed together at a club show earlier this year, Debbie rocked midriff-baring tops quite impressively, and she did the same today in the concert appearance.
She shares her secret to maintaining a taut tummy.
“My abs are all about what I eat and what I don’t eat,” she tells me. “For instance, I woke up in the middle of the night last night with a mini-bar Peanut M&M craving. I had two of them. In the past, I would’ve had the whole bag and more. I’m just into taking care of myself and being healthy. I try to save my indulgences for special occasions. It’s very much about the eating for me – and a little working out. “
Daily Mail Online’s Article about Debbie’s GMA Performance!
Time stands still for a youthful looking Debbie Gibson as she and Tiffany relive the 1980s for a special TV performance. They say that time waits for no one. But the fate of 80s music stars Debbie Gibson and Tiffany shows that it waits a little bit longer for some more than others. Debbie Gibson looked almost as good as she did in her prime as she romped through some of her hits on top American breakfast show Good Morning America in Central Park, New York today. Debbie, now 40, showed off a body which would be the envy of many women half her age.
She completed two outfit changes which showed off her figure to the max, with a pair of black shorts and bright pink top, before dancing around in a pair of white hotpants. Debbie recently revealed her secret to staying in shape. ’My abs are all about what I eat and what I don’t eat,’ she told OK magazine. ‘I’m just into taking care of myself and being healthy. I try to save my indulgences for special occasions. ’It’s very much about the eating for me – and a little working out.’
Meanwhile Tiffany, who won fans around the world with her 1987 hit I Think We’re Alone Now, wore a black and grey mini dress. The duo are getting ready to embark on a Journey Through The 80s tour together, where they will play all of their hits. Tiffany told the morning show that the best part of touring with Debbie was ‘the wardrobe and the fans of course. I think we’re having a good time. ’We want to journey through the ’80s and all the artists who influenced us,’ the singer told The New York Post about the tour. She added that she and Debbie may perform covers of hits by Stevie Nicks, Reba McIntyre and Guns N’ Roses, as well as Broadway tunes.
Debbie Gibson and Tiffany’s Interview with USA Today
By Elysa Gardner
The two biggest female teen-pop stars of the 1980s will start a tour together Friday night, in Westbury, NY. So let’s cut right to the chase: Were Debbie Gibson and Tiffany ever rivals?
Hardly, they insist. Gibson, now 40, recalls listening to Tiffany’s breakthrough single, a chart-topping 1987 cover of I Think We’re Alone Now, “every time I was on a plane, during takeoff, because it’s so driving. My sister and I had a Walkman, and we each had headphones, and we’d listen together.”
And Gibson’s 1988 ballad Lost In Your Eyes, another No. 1 hit, “is one of my favorite songs,” coos Tiffany, 39.
“Aw, thank you,” says Gibson. “See? It’s been mutual admiration, always.”
Speaking in a rehearsal studio days before launching “Journey Through the ’80s” — which includes five additional dates, wrapping in Chicago Aug. 13 — Gibson and Tiffany present a study in complementary contrasts. Tiffany, now pursuing a career in country music, is sporty in a jersey shirt and acid-wash jeans. Gibson, who spent much of her 20s and 30s performing in musical theater, looks pertly elegant in a long-sleeved mini-dress.
The two initially joined forces for the cheeky horror flickMega Python vs. Gatoroid, which aired on Syfy earlier this year. “I thought it would be something our fans would love,” Tiffany says. “But people had really always expected us to do something musically.”
Gibson notes, “We’re very different artists, with totally different influences. But that’s why this show is so cool.”
As its title suggests, the tour will be, in Gibson’s words, “unashamedly about the ’80s,” with each singer offering both her own hits and personal favorites. (They’ll also perform together.) Gibson is “incorporating lots of straight-up pop, like Michael Jackson and Madonna,” in addition to a medley of show tunes. “Tiffany suggested that, since Broadway influenced me greatly.”…

Debbie Gibson Chats with Theater Mania
Interview by Iris Wiener
Debbie Gibson began her enormously successful pop career at the age of 16 when her self-penned album, Out of the Blue, sold over eight million copies world-wide. Since then, she has honed her talent on the musical theater stage in such shows as Les Miserables, Gypsy, Cabaret, andBeauty and the Beast, while continuing to record. On July 29, she brings her Journey Through the ’80s concert tour with fellow pop star Tiffany to Long Island’s Westbury Music Fair (with more concerts set for across the country). TheaterMania recently spoke with Gibson about the tour, her career, and her hopes for returning to Broadway.
THEATERMANIA: On the new tour, will you continue to honor your old hits?
DEBBIE GIBSON: The great thing about having written my hits is that I will never disown my past, because all those hits came from me. I think a lot of artists who do disown their pasts do so because it was kind of like an image was put on them and their hits were handed to them. They didn’t have much creative input. But I wrote about what I knew then, which were puppy love and normal things that teenaged girls were going through. I get tweets from 17-year-old girls saying, “Hey, how does it feel to have teenagers listening to your music and rediscovering your music?” I’m honored that that’s the case.
TM: How have your inspirations changed as you’ve gotten older?
DG: The songs that I’m writing now are very much a reflection of my life now, and I also think a lot about other people’s lives. For example, I’m very aware that a lot of people in this country are going through very hard times. I have a line that I always say to them: “You can’t bankrupt talent or your spirit. There are things that can’t be taken from you.” So, for example, that’s the theme in a song that I’m working on…

Parade Magazine’s Interview with Debbie Gibson
Before there was Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus, there was Debbie Gibson and Tiffany. Now, more than 20 years later, the former teen queens are reuniting for theirJourney Through the ‘80snational tour.
Gibson, 40, spoke to PARADE about reliving the decade that had her rocking arenas (and malls) in shoulder pads and bowler hats.
She also opened up about the unique pressure today’s pop stars are under and why she’s glad YouTube and camera phones didn’t exist when she was topping the charts.
On how the Journey Through the 80’s tour came about.
“The idea has always been floating around and when Tiffany and I did this crazy TV sci-fi film together [2011's Mega Python vs. Gatoroid] people got really excited to see us in the same room at the same time. Then we did a little promo appearance at the Canal Room in New York City and people just went nuts seeing us together, so we were like, ‘Hmmm.’”
What fans can expect from Debbie and Tiffany.
“I’m doing all my hits and also a big medley of my favorite 80s songs that influenced me. I’m also doing a medley of my theater songs. When Tiffany and I were putting the show together, we were talking about how our influences are so different. Hers are rock and country; mine are singer-songwriters and real pop people and theater. It was actually her idea for me to do some of my Broadway stuff. We’re also opening and closing the show with two duets.”
